Verify your purchase

First of all, congratulations on taking the first step towards securing your crypto. As a good practice, you should verify your purchase & authenticity of the device after receiving the product.

This article will walk you through various checks used in different devices to ensure the product's authenticity and protect customers from potential supply-chain attacks.

Ledger Nano S and Ledger Nano X

  • Purchase is made from an official Ledger source (Etherbit is an official Ledger partner),
  • Ledger devices DO NOT come with any anti-tamper seals,
  • Your recovery sheet should be blank,
  • Initialize your Ledger device yourself at first use. The Welcome screen should be displayed when connecting your device for the first time,
  • Choose your PIN code,
  • After setup, connect your Ledger device to Ledger Live to verify its authenticity,
  • Genuine Ledger devices hold a secret key that is set during manufacture,
  • Only an original Ledger device can use its key to provide the cryptographic proof required to connect with Ledger's secure server.

Trezor One and Trezor Model T

  • Purchase is made from an official channel (Etherbit is an official Trezor partner),
  • Your recovery sheet should be blank,
  • Holographic seals;
    • Trezor One comes with a holographic seal on the packaging
    • Trezor Model T comes with two holographic seals
      • A seal on the packaging
      • A seal on top of the USB-C port
